Coastal Minds Assessment Team

Your Coastal Minds Assessment Team

Every child is different, and every assessment should be too. At Coastal Minds, we bring together the right people and perspectives to understand your child as a whole—not just their test scores. Depending on your child’s individual needs, different members of our team may contribute their knowledge and experience in areas such as learning, development, attention, autism, emotional well-being, and school success. Your Registered Psychologist oversees the psychological assessment process and brings the findings together to create a clear, integrated understanding of your child, along with practical recommendations for what comes next.

You don’t need to know which assessment or professional your child needs before you come to us.

You bring us your questions. We build the assessment around your child.

The Coastal Minds Team

Sheri Kalke

Registered Psychologist
Child & Family Assessment | Separation & Divorce

Sheri oversees the clinical assessment pathway and brings together information from across the assessment to develop a comprehensive, integrated understanding of each child. Her work focuses on differential diagnosis, particularly when learning, development, attention, behaviour, and emotional functioning overlap. She works collaboratively with the assessment team to ensure findings are considered together and translated into clear diagnostic conclusions and practical recommendations for home, school, and everyday life.

Sheri is also completing her doctoral research focused on children and families experiencing parental separation and divorce, with particular attention to children’s experiences, meaningful participation, and the practices that support their psychological well-being during family transitions.

Kelly McManus

School Psychologist & Registered Clinical Counsellor
Learning, Intellectual Development & School Intervention

Kelly’s work focuses on understanding the learning, behavioural, and mental-health factors that influence a person’s success at school and at home. She has extensive experience assessing learning disabilities and intellectual developmental disorders and developing practical, evidence-informed approaches to support learning, academic skills, and help children thrive at school. Kelly has worked across K–12 and post-secondary education, as well as in private practice, supporting learners with a wide range of learning and developmental needs. She works collaboratively with children, families, and adult learners to help them understand and apply assessment recommendations in everyday life. She also provides counselling to children, families, and adult learners to support behavioural and emotional well-being.

Chelsea Bicknell

Registered Psychologist
Autism Assessment & Developmental Differences

Chelsea’s work focuses on autism assessment and how social communication, sensory processing, behaviour, and development shape a child’s everyday functioning. Her graduate research focused on autism and wellness, adding a foundation for her work with autistic and neurodivergent individuals. Chelsea also has experience conducting psychoeducational assessments, allowing her to consider autism within the broader context of a child’s cognitive and learning profile. She brings this perspective to the assessment team to help develop a comprehensive understanding of each child’s strengths, differences, and support needs.

Gina Markle

Registered Social Worker
Assessment Intake, Family Context & Care Navigation

Gina is often a family’s first clinical point of contact, gathering developmental, educational, social, emotional, and family history so that each assessment begins with an understanding of the whole child. Her experience includes working as part of a multidisciplinary children’s hospital team, giving her a strong foundation in collaborative care and understanding children within the context of their families and broader support systems. In addition to her role within the assessment team, Gina provides counselling to children, adolescents, and adults and is trained in EMDR, supporting clients with a range of emotional, behavioural, and life challenges. Following assessment, she helps families make sense of recommendations, identify priorities, connect with appropriate supports, and develop a practical plan for what comes next.

Noel Morton

Registered Therapeutic Counsellor
Nervous System Regulation, Trauma & Emotional Well-Being

Noel’s work focuses on how stress, trauma, and nervous-system regulation can influence emotions, behaviour, relationships, and everyday functioning. He brings a trauma-informed and somatic perspective to the team, informed by 20 years of experience as an Advanced Care Paramedic. This background provides Noel with a unique understanding of stress, crisis, trauma, and the ways difficult experiences can affect both the body and emotional well-being. He helps the team consider these factors when understanding a child’s emotional and behavioural presentation and identifying appropriate supports.
